City-based Nikhil Asrani is among the 10 finalists (male) of PETA’s (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) Cutest Vegetarian Next Door contest.
It is an online contest that saw hundreds of other entrants from across India vying to find their name among the 20 finalists (10 males and 10 females). Two winners (one male and one female) will be crowned PETA’s “Cutest Vegetarian Next Door” and each will be featured on PETA’s website and receive a cash and a trophy. The contestants were asked to express their views on vegetarianism and upload their latest photographs into the website.
The contest will end on November 7 and the winners will be announced on November 11 by PETA’s judges. The deciding factors include the total number of votes garnered by the contestants, assessment of physical attractiveness and how heart-warming and motivational the contestants’ views on vegetarianism are. The 24-year-old city resident endorsed vegetarian diet thus: “Being vegetarian is a win-win situation. Meat production is a violent process. Why don’t we apply the policy of ‘live and let live’ to our environment? When we say no to meat, we not only save a happy soul but also add to the greatness of our country by conserving animals”.
