Venkateswara Rao takes charge as ACB chief


Says people’s cooperation is needed to check corruption

Senior IPS officer A.B. Venkateswara Rao assumed the office of Director-General of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) at the ACB headquarters in Gollapudi on Wednesday. Speaking to the media after taking charge, DGP ranked officials said that the ACB was always poised to check the corruption in the State. “However, the ACB cannot achieve the goal on its own. We need the cooperation from people,” Mr. Venkateswara Rao said.

He called upon the public to report cases of bribery to the ACB whenever they came across such situations.

Mr. Rao who got recently promoted to the rank of DG was removed from the post of DG, Intelligence Bureau (IB) by the ECI ahead of the Assembly and Lok Sabha polls in the State.

Later, he was attached to the office of Head of the Police Force, DGP.
