Former MLA Vangaveeti Radhakrishna joined the TDP, along with a large number of his supporters at the Praja Vedika on Wednesday. He was welcomed into the party by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Mr. Radhakrishna quit the YSR Congress Party last month, after his hopes of contesting from the Vijayawada Central Assembly constituency were allegedly dashed .
The appointment of Malladi Vishnu as the constituency in-charge apparently did not go well with Mr. Radhakrishna and he reportedly felt personally slighted by YSRCP chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
“Mr. Radhakrishna has worked for the welfare of the masses like his father Vangaveeti Mohan Ranga and I am happy to invite such leaders into the party,” Mr. Naidu said while addressing a gathering here.
Mr. Radhakrishna thanked Mr. Naidu and promised to contribute his mite for the strengthening of the ruling party. “Fulfilment of my father’s ideals is more important for me than power,” he said.
Y. Balaji switches loyalty
Meanwhile, YSRCP leader Y. Balaji from Chirala in Prakasam district also joined the TDP, along with his followers and vowed to do his best to ensure the victory of Karanam Balaram from the Assembly constituency.
Meanwhile, Ongole former Municipal Chairman Mantri Srinivasa Rao, DCCB former secretary Vinnakota Srinivasa Rao and others switched loyalties to the TDP from Congress.
