The 34th annual convention of Indian Association of Tour Operators (IOTA) will be held in Visakhapatnam from September 6 to 9.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Tourism Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya said that all India tour operators meet was being organised for the first time in the State. About 1,100 tour operators would take part in the convention wherein latest developments in the field of tourism across the globe would be discussed. A tour of Navya Andhra tourist places would also be part of the convention, she said.
Six new tourism places
APTDC Managing Director Himanshu Shukla said that the convention would give a boost to tourism sector in the State. In tune with it, the TDC would develop six new tourism places in the State, he said.
IOTA president Pronab Sarkar said that they wanted to promote Visakhapatnam as MICE (Meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions.) destination. Visakhapatnam can attract Buddhist tourists from all over the world. Post convention tours for the members would be conducted to enable them to gain first hand knowledge of the Buddhist sites. The convention would increase the international and domestic tourists arrivals in the State. It would also boost economic growth and create new jobs, he said.
IOTA vice-president Rajiv Mehra said that ‘Run for tourism’ would be organised on September 7 on Visakhapatnam beach.
