Congress leaders accuse the TDP govt. of changing name of welfare schemes, while the Naidu brigade alleges the same

As if there is nothing more important to channelize their energies on, the ruling and the Opposition party leaders are engaged in a blame game over ‘names’. Naming and renaming of projects has become the order of the day, rued a senior Congress leader in Ongole, unable to digest the change of names of government welfare schemes that were named after former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. While the YSRC feels that the TDP is trying to divert people’s attention from key issues such as dilution of loan waiver scheme, the ruling party leaders remind of how the Congress, during its rule in the State, had christened every scheme after the names of the members of the Gandhi-Nehru family.

In defence of the changing of the name of domestic terminal in Hyderabad airport, they say it is only ‘correction of the historic wrong’.

How Pulla Rao

stole the show

Sadhikarata (empowerment) of the local leadership came under question at Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s Rytu Saadhikarita Sadassu at Kaikaram in West Godavari district. Two Ministers—P. Manikyala Rao and Peethala Sujatha—hailing from the district and local Member of Parliamemnt P M. Venkateswara Rao and local (Unguturu) MLA had to play second fiddle even as Agriculture

Minister P. Pulla Rao from Guntur district stole the show.

The local leaders, including the Minister, spoke in brief at the invitation from

Mr. Pulla Rao who took Mr. Naidu around the exhibition on power tools organised by the Agriculture Department and handpicked a set of farmers to receive the loan redemption certificates from the VVIP.

He came in defence of Mr. Naidu over the issue of the Polavaram lift scheme pertaining to the district and launched a spirited attack on the YSRC for trying to  ‘do much ado about nothing’ on the lift proposal.

makes a mark

Pitted against several odds in the initial stages, Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana has not just managed to make a secure place in the party, but has also earned a good number of supporters.

He successfully brought the former DCC president Chatla Narasimha Rao and a few others into the party’s fold, besides luring the YSRC Mayor Sk. Abdul Aziz who crossed over to his side.

Recently, Anam Jayakumar Reddy, who worked with the Jai Samaikyandhra Party, also joined the TDP reportedly with the active support of Mr. Narayana.

Leaders in the district are now eager to see how the Minister handles the widening of the arterial Trunk Road. His true test lies ahead going by the controversies surrounding the demolitions to be carried out in this busy road.
