The Hindu-Vignan academic pentathlon on September 12

The Hindu, in association with Vignan University, will conduct Academic Pentathlon, a competition for brainy young minds in the two Telugu-speaking States of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The first edition of this exciting contest will take place across Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Guntur, Tirupati and Hyderabad while the grand finale will be at the Vignan University, Vadlamudi in Guntur district. In Vijayawada the event will be conducted at Siddhartha auditorium in PB Siddhartha Arts and Science college in Mogalrajpuram at 9 a.m. on September 12 (Tuesday).

The event is open for students of 11th (Junior Inter) and 12th class (Senior Inter) students. It is a scholastic contest covering quizzes on math, physics and chemistry besides elocution in English and fine arts (music, dance and skit).

Interested students can register names (free of cost) by calling 0866-2553033 or by mail to vjwcirc@thehindu.co.in . Each team should consist of 10 students (2 each for Maths, Physics, Chemistry, English & Fine arts).

The top three teams with the maximum overall score in all the five fields will be awarded trophies and medals and will qualify for the grand finale.

Regional winners will get scholarship of 10% on fee amount if they join Vignan University.

All participants will be given a certificate.

The top prizes include cash component and scholarship offers. First prize comprises cash of ₹50,000 and 50 % scholarship in fee payment, second prize will get the winner cash amount of ₹30,000 and 25% scholarship in fee and for third—₹20,000 and 25 % scholarship.

A minimum total of 940 marks should be obtained by the students in Intermediate exams.
