Telugu Desam ranks in city stay aloof

June 17, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

On a day of feverish speculation whether the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) would services notices on Chief Minister, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu, there was no buzz in TDP offices here, as the party’s rank and file went about their way.

Many of the party’s MLAs kept themselves busy in their constituencies, while Ministers from Krishna district stayed back in their respective districts even as Mr. Naidu called Ministers available in Hyderabad for unscheduled consultations.

TDP leaders here were cautious in their comments on the day’s developments. “Senior leaders have no say. He [Mr. Naidu] is surrounded by a coterie that looks after these sorts of things,” said one senior leader, who didn’t want to be quoted. Another leader said they expected Governor Mr. E.S.L. Narasimhan to solve the issue between the governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh amicably.

“At the same time, we are waiting for instructions from the party high command on what we should do,” he said. Meanwhile, Irrigation Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao stayed in the city throughout the day but left for Hyderabad later.
