Convening of District Review Committee meeting to disucss Bhavani Island issue demanded

November 11, 2011 08:58 am | Updated 08:58 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has demanded that the Central Bureau of Investigation arrest YSR Congress president and Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy immediately and attach his properties.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Mylavaram MLA and TDP district president Devineni Umamaheswara Rao alleged that Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy misused power while his father Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy was Chief Minister.

As the Central Bureau of Investigation collected all evidences to prove Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy's abuse of power, it should arrest him and his associate Vijay Sai Reddy, he said. Referring to Bhavani Island, Mr. Rao said that Vijayawada tehsildar had changed the adangal to hand over the irrigation land to the Tourism Department.

Congress leaders Vatti Vasanth Kumar and others were mounting pressure on the Chief Minister to hand over the island on PPP basis to Pratyusha Shipping Company owned by Ganta Srinivasa Rao, who won on Praja Rajyam Party ticket.

Secondary Education Minister K. Parthasarathy and Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal were silent on the issue, he said. They owed an explanation to the people, he said, adding that a District Review Committee meeting should be convened to discuss these issues.
