Hundreds of TDP activists, led by Law Minister Kollu Ravindra, staged a dharna here on Wednesday accusing the YSRCP members of applying form-7 for deletion of the names of TDP sympathisers from the list of voters in the Machilipatnam Assembly constituency.

The TDP leaders and activists, including Machilipatnam Municipal Chairman M. Baba Prasad, took out a motorbike rally from Koneru centre to the Collectorate where they staged a sit-in. Mr. Ravindra alleged that YSRCP former MLA Perni Venkataramaiah (Nani) and his team had resorted to applying fake form-7 fearing defeat in the coming elections. Mr. Ravindra and others met Krishna District Revenue Officer and submitted him a representation urging him to speed up the investigation into the issue. Meanwhile, Krishna District Superintendent of Police Sarvasresth Tripathy said that a total of 26 first information reports were registered with regard to submission of fake form 7. But no arrests were made till Wednesday. “The investigation into the issue of fake form-7 is on,” said Mr. Tripathy.
