Sujana plans big for his adopted village

Union Minister of State for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Y.Sujana Chowdary has exhorted the people’s representatives in the local bodies to compete among themselves for developing their villages as the best ones. Their competitive spirit will help in improving the living conditions, he has asserted.

Inaugurating and laying the foundation for various development works that cost Rs. 21 crore at Ponnavaram in Veerulapadu mandal of Krishna district, which was adopted by him, on Saturday, Mr. Chowdary said the Central government laid emphasis on education and digital learning to improve the standards and necessary support should be extended to the students to enable them derive the benefits of the digital revolution.

Mr. Chowdary laid the foundation for a Rs. 1.40-crore blacktop road connecting the village to NH-65 and inaugurated cement concrete roads worth Rs. 3.01 crore and digital classrooms promoted by Google at the Zilla Parishad High School and an Indian Bank branch.

Mr. Chowdary said at a public meeting that Internet access was being provided as part of the Fibrenet project and the larger aim was to transform the village into a ‘digital village’. He instructed the officials concerned to expedite the development works as only 40% of them were completed.

Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas, Water Resources Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, ZP Chairperson Gadde Anuradha, MLA Tangirala Sowmya and others were present.
