Strong India good for Japan: Toyoma Governor Takakakzu

Mr. Takakazu said "Considering India’s enormous potential economic growth and development, partnership with Andhra Pradesh is extremely important for vitalising our prefecture’s economy and society.

Japan’s Toyama Prefecture, Governor Takakazu Ishhi here on Monday said a strong India was good for Japan and similarly a strong Japan was good for India.

Mr. Takakakzu led a 19-member delegation to Andhra Pradesh to sign a memorandum of understanding in different fields, including pharma, education, electronics and others, which help in economic development of Andhra Pradesh and Toyoma.

On the occasion, Mr. Takakazu said “Considering India’s enormous potential economic growth and development, partnership with Andhra Pradesh is extremely important for vitalising our prefecture’s economy and society,”.

Toyoma Prefecture is home for manufacturing industries, especially pharma, machinery, electronic and electric parts. Based on these industries, there is scope for a number of economic exchanges between the two regions, he said.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that the MoU was a promotional activity and one should look at it as a foundation for strong mutual relationship between the two regions.

Responding to a question over the proposed investments in the State from Japan, Mr. Naidu said “Japanese do not come for short-term gains and look for long-term relationship. This is what we too are insisting on,”.

Besides geographical, there are many similarities between the two regions and this partnership would help in mutual economic development. Many initiatives like student, cultural exchange programmes would be worked out in addition to the industrial development, he added.

The Japanese delegation would be visiting Amaravati, before boarding a flight to New Delhi from Gannavaram airport.
