The State guest house on Bandar Road is teeming with Ministers and senior officials these days owing to intense activity in the run-up to the foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of the capital city on October 22.

While the first floor of the two-storeyed building was occupied by Ministers, the upper floor was packed with security personnel.

Eight air-conditioned rooms on the first floor have been allocated to Ministers. Irrigation Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra, Agriculture Minister Prathipati Pullarao, Social Welfare Minister Ravella Kishore Babu and some MLAs regularly visit the guest house and stay for a while, according to officials.

Guest house Superintendent K. Basivi Reddy said: “We collect Rs. 150 towards room rent per day, and this amount is used for maintenance purpose. Round-the-clock security personnel have been posted at the building maintained by the Revenue Department.
