: Bringing in technology and innovation to traditional businesses is what many entrepreneurs are doing through their startups.

Over half a dozen such enterprises have surfaced in the city in the past one year.

Printshoppy, established by two brothers who took to family business instead of pursuing lucrative careers, is one such successful venture with full-fledged operations and a reasonable customer base.

Core team

Budding entrepreneurs G. Mahesh Chandra, a former Internal Security Officer at Llyods Bank, London flew back to city a couple of years ago and founded the firm along with his brother G. Ram Charan, an M. Pharmacy graduate from PES College of Pharmacy. The duo launched operations with a core team of six persons a year back.

“We have reached a turnover of Rs. 2 lakh per month and a team of 20 members work to fulfil the online orders of customised cards, mugs and mobile cases using Web2Print technology,” Ram Charan told The Hindu .

“Forty per cent of our regular customers are from North Indian cities like Noida, and Punjab and we serve close to 20 orders a day out of the city and the State. It is the only full fledged e-Commerce which delivers a range of products across the country. My father is in this business for last three decades and we were also inclined to continue it but with innovation. Within Vijayawada, we deliver any order within few hours or at the most one day but we hardly get any local orders,” says Ram Charan.

“Printing and stationery is one of most unorganised sectors of business. We have streamlined everything before going online,” he added.

Meanwhile, several other e-commerce firms like Isthriwala, an online laundry, My Servant, a network of skilled workers, online grocery stores Fatafut, Sundar Kart and others have been established by local entrepreneurs.
