On the heels of the recent air show comes another thrilling event — Navy Operational Display — at the Punnami ghat on the banks of the Krishna river.
“The three-day event showcasing the splendour of Indian Navy will unfold on February 2,” said Krishna District Collector A. Babu at a press conference here on Tuesday.
The Collector said the Navy show was part of the government endeavour to keep the place alive so it would get noticed, by hosting an uninterrupted series of events. The programme will take place from 4 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. on all three days and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu would take part in the valedictory session on February 4.
On the first two days, it would be rehearsals that will culminate in the final show on February 4 which again would be followed by a Navy band show at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram on February 5, he said.
Navy’s Andhra Pradesh in charge Sanjeev Issar said to inspire local youth, the show was being conducted in the Krishna at the Prakasam Barrage. The display would include feats by Navy helicopters and demonstration of rescue operations by marine commandos in addition to stalls exhibiting naval armament and brochures educating the youth on how to join the Navy.
Some 300 naval staff will take part in the three-day show.
Vijayawada Municipal Commissioner G. Veerapandian said adequate drinking water supply and proper sanitary conditions were being ensured.
