Spycam footage helps police crack eight burglary cases

Four inter-State offenders held, booty recovered

CCTV footage helped the Prakasam police achieve breakthrough in eight burglary cases with the arrest of four inter-State offenders on Wednesday.

Valuables worth ₹27.66 lakh were recovered from the offenders who had struck in different parts of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and also Tamil Nadu, Superintendent of Police Siddharth Kaushal told reporters here.

Explaining the modus operandi of the accused, the SP said the offenders K. Nagaraju and his associate C. Nagaraju had struck in eight places in the second fortnight of September and decamped with valuables worth ₹30 lakh in Prakasam, Krishna and Khammam districts.

Careful examination of the CCTV footage led to the arrest of K. Nagaraju and his wife Tirupatamma in Peddakakani and his mother Ratamma and C. Nagaraju at Bapatla on Wednesday. The former’s mother and wife disposed of the stolen valuables, including 609 grams of ornaments, 1,700 grams of silver utensils, the SP said and wanted people to instal CCTV in their houses and also in commercial establishments for the police to swiftly nab the offenders.

Opting for the Locked House Monitoring System (LHMS) would also go a long way in keeping their premises safe and secure when they were out of station.
