South-Central Railways diverts, cancels trains

The South Central Railway announced the diversion/full and partial cancellations and rescheduling of various trains on October 13 due to the cyclone Phailin.

Several trains bound for Howrah have been diverted to run via Balharshah at Vijayawada and those coming from Howrah are diverted to run via Balharshah and Vijayawada.

Shalimar-Thiruvananthapuram Express (no. 16324), Howrah-Pondicherry Express (12867) and Hatia-Yesvantpur Express (12835) have been diverted via Balharshah at Vijayawada.

Chennai-Santragachi Express has been diverted to run via Balharshah at Vijayawada.

Rameswaram-Bhubaneswar Express (no. 18495) has been partially cancelled between Visakhapatnam and Bhubaneswar and Puri-Tirupati Express (17479) is partially cancelled between Puri and Palasa.

Secunderabad- Tirupati Narayanadri Express (no. 12734) scheduled to leave Secunderabad at 6.05 p.m on Sunday has been re-scheduled to depart at 7.30 p.m.

Meanwhile, Railway officials made food arrangements at Vijayawada station for passengers stranded in trains (which do not have pantry cars) that were running behind schedule. Information centres were set up at all stations to keep passengers of any dislocation of service.
