Maha Shivaratri is round the corner and it’s time to soak in the devotion and celebrate Shiva.

Singer Smita from city has launched two music videos on the occasion. One of them is Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya’s Nirvana Shatakam , released on Friday (March 4) while the second video will be released on March 7, the night of Maha Shivaratri.

Nirvana Shatakam is a composition consisting of 6 slokas that summarise the basic teachings of Advaita Vedanta or the teachings of non-dualism. It is often said by realised gurus that these few verses can be of tremendous value for those progressing on the path of self-realisation.

“Success of Ishana inspired me to go deeper into spiritual music. Nihal who composed Ishana has also scored music for these two songs. The videos are beautifully captured by Sameer Reddy, choreographed by Vijay and edited by Adele Periera,” she said at the launch. The singer says she has dedicated this video to Sadhguru, her guru who set her on a spiritual journey seven years ago and her grandmother T. Lakshmi Kantamma who had been her driving force and inspiration.

Smita never ceases to spring surprises. After being hailed as a pop diva in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu post-success of her Hai Rabba album, the city-born singer released many more such projects and won public accolades.

The high point in her career was when she won Filmfare award for best playback singing for Evaraina chusuntara in Telugu film Anukokunda oka roju .

Then came Ishana-the path of the divine, a new album that introduced Smita to the world in a different avataar .

Matching her singing skills with every important occasion, she has been entertaining and educating people at every important juncture.
