SCS: BJP leaders blame TDP

October 26, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The BJP on Sunday blamed the TDP for raising people’s expectations on Special Category Status (SCS) for Andhra Pradesh. It is not apparently happy with the hype Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had created for over a month around the Capital city ceremony.

“When the Prime Minister comes, people will naturally anticipate a statement (on SCS) but it was not on his agenda. He came to lay the foundation stone and did that, and promised to implement the A.P Reorganisation Act in letter and spirit. No one can take decisions on sensitive issues on the spur of the moment,” observed a senior BJP leader. He added that most BJP leaders who met Narendra Modi at the airport were not keen on taking part in the event due to the discriminatory attitude of TDP.

Basically, the Chief Minister should not have created a big impression of the function. “Protests by Opposition parties are expected and the Chief Minister has himself to blame”, he asserted.

Another BJP leader said on the condition of anonymity that TDP was not behaving as a good alliance partner. “The BJP cadres are being harassed by officials allegedly at the behest of TDP. They are upset with dictatorial style of functioning of the Chief Minister. Though we are from BJP, we had to struggle to get a brief audience with the Prime Minister at Gannavaram as the programme was being controlled by the CMO, ” he remarked.
