Schools asked to take part in Olympic Day Run on June 22

District Educational Officer K. Nageswara Rao on Friday instructed all the heads of the schools of Vijayawada Urban Mandal to take part in the Olympic Day Run-2015 along with students on June 22. The event is staged by the Krishna District Olympic Association (KDOA).

The order asked the educational officers, the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation and the Krishna District PETs Association to work in coordination with the KDOA and make the run a success. It also asked the association to take care about the safety of the schoolchildren taking part in the event.

The run will start from various centres in city and would culminate at the IGMC Stadium at 8 a.m.

KDOA secretary K.P. Rao said students will reach the stadium from various centres such as Patamata, One Town, Krishna Lanka, Singhnagar and Governorpet.

He said around 10,000 students were expected to take part and participation certificates will be given to all them.

He said the ongoing tussles between two associations claiming as the Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association will come to an end as the High Court has reserved judgement on Monday.

Meanwhile, the other association, headed by Guntur MP Galla Jayadev, is organising the Olympic Run on June 23 at the IGMC Stadium.
