SBH launches e-Connect lobby in city

January 14, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:59 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

State Bank of Hyderabad (SBH) opened e-Connect lobby and Commercial Finance branch at its Patamata branch here on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, SBH Managing Director Santanu Mukherjee said the bank was ramping up its focus on technology products, and that the e-Connect lobby is a move in that direction. The bank is planning to take the total e-Connect centres to 50 from existing 15 by end of March 2015. The facility will be made available in Guntur, Tirupati, Kurnool, Rajahmundry, and Vizianagaram.

Merger unlikely

The merger of State Bank of Hyderabad (SBH) with its parent bank, State Bank of India (SBI) is unlikely in near future. “There is no such proposal on table right now,” said SBH Managing Director (MD) Santanu Mukherjee.

He was in the city to inaugurate an e-Connect lobby and commercial branch on Tuesday.

The merger would not be possible given the banks performance and capital issues. All the banks were performing well and were not stressed out. The merger may not be ideal proposal for present day situation.
