Krishna District Collector M.Raghunandana Rao said that district-level and mandal-level committees had to be constituted for the demarcation of sand reaches for the purpose of auction.

The Collector at a review meeting on the auction of sand on Wednesday said that the State Government had set very clear guidelines for the auctioning of sand reaches. He said that the guidelines clearly said that district-level and mandal-level committees had to be constituted before leasing out of the sand reaches.

He said that committees consisting of officials from DWMA, Panchayat Raj, Mining, Ground Water and other departments should approve all the sand reaches and mandal-level committees should be formed with the sub-collector as the chairperson as per the new guidelines, the Collector told the officials.

Officials along with the Joint Collector should take a decision on whether new committees should be constituted or the old ones be continued, the Collector said.

Joint Collector P.Usha Kumari, DWMA PD T.Anil Kumar, District Panchayat Officer K Anand. Agriculture Deputy Director P.Padmaja and AD Mining B.Ramachandra Rao were present the review meeting.
