Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada, R. Dhananjayulu along with Senior Divisional Security Commissioner S.R. Gandhi on Friday launched the web portal of Railway Protection Force (RPF) to trace rescued children.
Many parents are searching for their missing wards through different channels. The web portal will help the parents, relatives and friends to trace the missing and runaway children.
The RPF, with the help of Juvenile Welfare Department, will display the photograph, name, place of rescue and home in which the child is accommodated, district, contact person’s name and other details on the web portal, the DRM said.
Mr. Gandhi said the RPF, Vijayawada division, rescued 230 children in 2017 and 246 children this year so far. “We are planning to highlight launch of the web portal of RPF in televisions in all railway stations and paste posters on railway premises, which help to trace and identify the rescued children,” Mr. Gandhi said.
Additional Director-General (Railways) K.R.M. Kishore Kumar said many children who ran away from homes due to various reasons were using trains to escape to other places.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) and the RPF are reuniting the children with their families through Child Welfare Committees (CWCs) in the districts. If the families were not traced, the children were being kept in the Child Care Institutions (CCIs), the Addl. DG said.
Mr. Dhananjayulu said the newly launched web portal of the RPF would be much useful for the police, government departments and NGOs, dealing with runaway and missing children to locate them and reunite them with their families.
"Parents can type www.scr.indianrailways.gov.in to enter into the web portal, go to the division, security and then search for rescued children", the DRM said.
Juvenile Welfare Department, Joint Director, B.D.V. Prasada Murthy, GRP and PRF personnel were present.
