Rain: reservoirs acrossKrishna filled to brim

People in the low-lying areas alerted on possible flooding

Following heavy rain across the State, the upstream areas of the Krishna and Godavari rivers are receiving heavy inflows.

The outflow at Srisailam on the Krishna was 4.66 lakh cusecs and at Nagarjuna Sagar Dam and Pulichintala Project, it was 3.12 lakh cusecs and 4.17 lakh cusecs respectively

Prakasam Barrage was receiving 2.10 lakh cusecs of water and 1.88 lakh cusecs was being discharged by 8 p.m.

Krishna District Collector A. Md. Imtiaz visited the flood-prone areas along with officials. People in the flood-prone areas were warned of possible flooding. He asked officials to be prepared for the evacuation of the locals. So far 86 families were sent to relief centres, Mr. Imtiaz said. The outflow is expected to go up to 4 lakh cusecs by Thursday morning.

The Godavari at Dowaleswaram Barrage was receiving an inflow of 1.09 lakh cusecs and the same amount was being discharged into the sea.

Water level

The water levels in the reservoirs across the Krishna and the Godavari reached close to full reservoir level.
