Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar has asked the railway officials to speed up works on railway projects sanctioned to Andhra Pradesh.

At a review meeting with South Central Railway (SCR) officials at the Secretariat on Thursday, Mr. Kumar stressed on the need for taking up railway projects that were assured under AP Reorganisation Act immediately. He wanted them to complete the ongoing project at the earliest.

Referring to land acquisition issues, the Chief Secretary suggested that the railway officials coordinate with the Chief Commissioner of Land Administration (CCLA) and District Collectors. The railways also had to designate a nodal officer to resolve the issues, he said, adding, funding of the State’s portion for cost sharing rail projects would be examined.

SCR General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav said the railways had completed majority of works as far as railway safety was concerned. The State government had to construct approach roads. The road overbridge (ROB) on Kavali-Pedapavani road constructed at a cost of ₹ 43 crore was completed. The ROB works on Yalamanchili, Bikkavolu, Guduru, Kakinada, Nandyal projects were completed.

Guntur-Guntakal double line works were in progress. Vijayawada-Gudivada-Bhimavaram electrification and double line works were going on, he said.

Special Chief Secretary (R&B) Neerabh Kumar Prasad said that 119 ROB/RUB were sanctioned in AP. Of this, 58 were completed, and remaining were in progress.

Construction of road under bridge at Rayalacheruvu level crossing on a cost-sharing basis also came up for discussions with the State Government conveying that consent would be given for the same.
