Railway police's plea to authorities

March 29, 2012 04:19 pm | Updated 04:19 pm IST - VIJAYAWADA

Superintendent of Railway Police (SRP) M. Kanta Rao has said the railway authorities need to take necessary measures to ensure that details of every passenger who boarded the train were available with the railways.

Dr. Kanta Rao said they noticed that there was an increase in passengers boarding the trains with general ticket. They pay express charges while purchasing the general ticket and board the AC bogies, and lift the luggage and baggage of other passengers.

As the details of passengers with general ticket would not be available, it was very difficult to nab the thieves, he said.

Hence, the TT and TTE should collect the details such as name and address while upgrading the ticket, he said, adding that he wrote a letter to Divisional Railway Manager in this regard.
