: District Collector Babu A. and Additional Police Commissioner Mahesh Chandra Laddha inspected the arrangements being made for Krishna Pushkarams, on Indrakeeladri, the abode of goddess Kanaka Durga, here on Friday.

Mr. Babu said an action plan was being prepared to handle the huge rush of pilgrims during the 12-day event and top priority was given to their security.

Planning is being done with the assumption that the rush devotees would be there for 15 days, which requires a concerted effort for smooth conduct of the event.

Two queue lines

Two queue lines would be dedicated for those taking a holy dip in the River Krishna and an equal number of queues for those having darshan of the presiding deity atop Indrakeeladri.

The APSRTC was instructed to operate special buses from the Pushkar Nagar to various bathing ghats for the convenience of devotees. Mr. Laddha said the officers concerned should already have learnt lessons from the stampede that took place during the Godavari Maha Pushkaram at Rajamahendravaram.

Temple Executive Officer Chandrasekhar Azad said a total of 44 structures / buildings have to be removed between the foothill and Maha Mandapam for providing easy access to the temple and tenders for this work would be finalised on May 2.
