Produce Kodela’s grandson, HC tells cops

The High Court has directed the police authorities to produce the grandson of Andhra Pradesh Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao in the court on Friday morning.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyothi Sengupta and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar issued these interim orders on a writ petition filed by Ms. Padmapriya, daughter-in- law of Dr. Sivaprasada Rao alleging that her husband had taken away her four-year-old son with the help of police. She told the court that she was staying with her parents in Visakhapatnam after she was allegedly harassed by her in-laws and her husband. She accused the police of aiding her husband in the kidnap.

The Bench wondered why the police played any role in this and commented that a child of that tender age should not be subjected to such a situation. The police concerned were asked to produce the child by Friday morning.

Our Special Correspondent from Visakhapatnam adds: Ms. Padmapriya had alleged that Kodela Sivaramakrishna, son of Mr. Siva Prasad Rao, accompanied by seven prominent persons from society, Two Town SHO Mallikarjun Rao, a constable and some goons, forcibly entered her parent’s house in Visakhapatnam after breaking open the gate, main door and bedroom door, and took away the child, late on September 17 night.

Ms. Padma Priya, a B.Tech graduate, was married to Dr. Sivaramakrishna, an oncologist by profession, in 2009. She said that she had moved to her parents place in May 2013, unable to bear the “harassment and torture” by her in-laws and husband.

On September 18, she booked a case under IPC sections 498 A (harassment), 363 (Kidnapping) and 441 (Trespassing), against her husband and the seven other persons who accompanied him. She alleged that the police was going slow on the investigation, as prominent persons were involved and to facilitate them to get anticipatory bail.
