Power tariff hike: TDP launches signature campaign

April 03, 2013 03:21 pm | Updated November 17, 2021 04:30 am IST - GUNTUR:

The TDP took up a signature campaign at the market centre in Guntur on Tuesday against the increase in power tariff.

On the occasion, party district president and Chilakaluripet MLA Prathipati Pulla Rao said the hike in power tariff came as a rude jolt for people who were struggling to pay the surcharges.

The hike entailed a huge burden on domestic consumers and industries while the power shortage continued unabated.

The prices of essential commodities have gone up steeply due to irrational policies of the Central government.

These made people’s lives miserable.

Former Minister Kodela Sivaprasada Rao said agriculture sector bore the brunt of power cuts.

The much-hyped promise of free power to farmers was not fulfilled.

Domestic consumers in villages were going through power cuts stretching up to 18 hours.

MLA N. Ananda Babu, party urban president B. Srinivas Yadav, Guntur West constituency in-charge Y. Durga Rao and others were present.
