Consumers have to shell out more for purchasing fuel, as rise in the prices came into effect from Friday midnight.

Petrol price in the city will be Rs.75.62 a litre from Saturday as against Rs.72.19, while a litre diesel will now cost Rs.60.52 as against Rs.57.58, according to petrol pump owners here.

Consumers apprehend that the revised fuel prices would have an effect on the prices of essential commodities in the city.

The hike in price was the second straight steep increase in the prices in the last few weeks, they said.
