Paintings of Chittaprosad on display tomorrow

The Jana Sahiti will organise a painting exhibition commemorating the birth centenary of Chittaprosad Bhattacharya at the Vijayawada Cultural Centre here on Sunday. The exhibition will be on from 10.30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Praja Sahiti, a publication of Jana Sahiti, Chief Editor Kothapalli Ravi Babu said that Chittaprosad Bhattacharya was India's most recognised political artist of the mid-20th century. In 1943, Chittaprosad covered the Bengal Famine for various communist publications.

These paintings and his report on Bengal famine was his first publication, Hungry Bengal. The British government banned it. Some of those paintings could be seen at the exhibition, he said.

Mr. Ravi Babu said that the exhibition would be inaugurated by noted artist Mohan. A meeting would also be organised in the evening.

Jana Sahiti’s B. Aruna will preside over the meeting wherein Academy of Creative Arts president Teevee, 64kalau.com editor Y. Kala Sagar, Jana Sahiti general secretary Divi Kumar, Mr. Mohan would address the gathering, he said.
