‘Pachchadi’ impresses judges at cookery contest

They say “desserts are the fairy tales of the kitchen ” and people from Tiruvuru undeniably have a sweet tooth.

The Hindu group, in collaboration with the Andhra Pradesh Tourism, held another round of “Our State, our taste” cookery contest there on Sunday.

The Fortune group, the RKG group, the Butterfly group and Kanchi Kamakshi sponsored the event, which saw participation of 130 people.

The winner, P. Mythili, prepared vamu aaku pachchadi, made of the leaves that have traditional medicinal uses.

The 1st runner-up, Y. Padmavathi, said she was passionate about cooking and made jonna annam.

“The dish helps in building immunity,” she said.

The second runner-up, Ch. Bhavani Susritha, prepared vankaya pindi iguru, with one of the oldest recipes.

Brinjal is usually disliked by children, but can be made delicious if prepared with a unique touch.

Egg halwa, goduma payasam, kanda pulusu, banana barfi and aratikai pachchadi were other appetising dishes prepared by contestants.
