Chief Secretary L.V. Subrahmanyam has instructed the officials concerned to make necessary arrangements for foolproof conduct of written examinations from September 1 for filling various posts in the ward and village secretariats.

In a video-conference with the District Collectors and Superintendents of Police (SPs) on Wednesday, Mr. Subrahmanyam said over 21 lakh candidates would be appearing for the recruitment tests and 4,478 centres were set up across the State.

He said the Collectors and SPs should ensure that the question papers were kept in strong rooms and transported to the test centres amid tight security.

The candidates have to manually fill the OMR-enabled answer-sheets, which were being sent to the districts. The examinations would be similar to those conducted by the Union Public Service Commission and the A.P. Public Service Commission.

A sum of ₹65 lakh was sanctioned for each district for holding the examinations, the Chief Secretary added.

Special Chief Secretary (Revenue) Manmohan Singh, Principal Secretary (Panchayat Raj) Gopal Krishna Dwivedi, Director-General of Police Gautam Sawang and Secretary (Municipal Administration) J. Syamala Rao were present.
