Out-patient services at the Mangalagiri All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) commenced on Tuesday much ahead of schedule.
While there is time till September 2020 for completion of the full project, a decision was taken to finish the out-patient block in advance.
The doors of the out-patient departments were opened for registration at 8.30 a.m., and after registration, patients were sent to respective departments.
Clinicians from General Medicine, General Surgery, Paediatrics, Opthalmology, Community and Family Medicine, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Radiology, Dermatology, orthopedics psychiatry and dentistry attended to the patients.
Labs
Mangalagiri AIIMS director Mukesh Tripathi said that the out-patient department would be open from Monday to Saturday from 8.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The department would remain closed on Sunday, he said.
AMRIT Pharmacy and Hind Labs would provide pharmaceutical and diagnostic support respectively, Dr. Tripathi said.
AIIMS president T.S. Ravikumar, Deputy Director Shramdeep Sinha, dean Joy Ghoshal and medical superintendent Rakesh Kakkar were present at the launch of the new AIIMS unit.
