Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) will organise the 18th and 19th annual convocations at A-Convention Centre here on March 30.

NTRUHS Chancellor and Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana E.S.L. Narasimhan will participate as the chief guest. Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas will be the guest of honour.

Addressing the media here on Monday, NTRUHS Vice-Chancellor T. Ravi Raju said 97 gold medals, 46 silver medals and 42 cash prizes would be given away by the dignitaries.

Honorary degree

Besides, a honorary degree will be presented to Dr. Kirpal Singh Chugh, Emeritus Professor of Nephrology at the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research at Chandigarh.

He is considered the Father of Nephrology in India having made pioneering contributions to the field even before this branch of medicine became a speciality in the western countries.

Dr. Ravi Raju said the annual convocation could not be held last year due to State bifurcation.

The 18th and 19th convocations are therefore being organised together.
