Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao will launch NTR Kalavedika in the city on January 18. Starting with the drama titled ‘Srinadhudu’ on that day the cultural organisation will stage events every Sunday at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram.

NTR Kalavedika was formed to promote theatre arts of which plays were an integral part, said Police Commissioner and patron of the NTR Kalavedika organisation, A.B. Venkateswara Rao and its general secretary P.V.N. Krishna.

Addressing media persons at the Press Club here on Friday, Mr. Rao said the idea behind conducting the events was to transform Vijayawada into the State’s cultural Capital and provide clean entertainment to the people at a time when the decline in value system was reflected in the field of theatre arts also.

The emphasis was on staging plays and skits devoid of obscenity and double entendres which have become common these days.

Entry would be for a fee and the audience could be assured of getting worth of their money.

Noted actor Gummadi Gopalakrishna, who is president of NTR Kalavedika, is playing the lead role in Srinadhudu drama.

Another popular actor T.V. Jayaprakash Reddy is also playing a role.
