Deputy Commissioner of Police M. Ravindranath Babu has advised the volunteers of the National Service Scheme wing of various colleges to give their best services to the devotees during the Dasara navrathri utsavams.

Addressing a meeting held at the local Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium here on Tuesday, Mr. Ravindranath Babu said that the NSS volunteers should discharge their duties perfectly since lakhs of devotees would visit the city from different parts of the region. The volunteers would play a crucial role in ensuring the comfort and convenience of the devotees and they should be extra vigilant at the queue lines during the festival days.

Mr. Ravindranath Babu asked the volunteers to be very careful in rendering services at the bathing ghats and also in taking care of the differently-abled persons and the elderly people. The volunteers should keep advising and guiding the devotees to move quickly forward in the queue lines so that they would complete their darshan at the Durga Temple fast. They should also be able to provide information on various important places of tourist interest in the city. The officials of the police, endowments and other departments were asked to work together and coordinate with each other in making the arrangements for the dasara utsavams. Youth Welfare Officer and NSS coordinator Dr. Velaga Joshi said that nearly 900 NSS volunteers from various colleges were going to render their services in the utsavams.
