Several organisations, including NGOs and voluntary organisations, are lending their support and help to Hudhud cyclone affected families in Visakhapatnam and neighbouring districts by arranging food, vegetables, milk and other commodities.

On Tuesday, organisations like CREDAI, The Krishna District Lorry Owners Association and students’ unions arranged truck loads of vegetables and other commodities to be transported to Visakhapatnam.

Krishna District Lorry Owners Association general secretary Nagumothu Raja said the association had supplied five tankers of milk and butter milk on Monday night, besides 15 water tankers for supplying water to the victims.

On Tuesday, trucks with vegetables were arranged for transportation from KIMS Hospital. This apart, four more trucks were being provided free for other organisations, which want to supply commodities to the victims. Two more trucks of vegetables and bread will be transported on Wednesday morning, he claimed.

Flagging off the trucks from KIMS Hospital, City police Commissioner A.B. Venkateswara Rao appreciated the efforts of the organisations in lending a helping hand for the affected families. He urged the other organisations to take a cue and come forward in supporting such novel cause.

“It is the responsibility of every citizen to help the cyclone victims and they could so by donating either in cash or kind,” said Mr. Rao. Builders Association president Y.V. Ramana Rao was also present on the occasion.
