Naidu to take part in ‘maha dharna’ on Dec. 4

The TDP is gearing up to stage a ‘maha dharna’ in the city along with farmers of Guntur and Krishna districts in protest against the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal verdict. TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu will take part in the protest slated for December 4. Tentatively, it has been decided that farmers from Krishna and Guntur be involved in the dharna. The party leadership, however, is also contemplating involving those from West Godavari district too as it is served by the Eluru Canal.

The TDP leaders are planning to mobilise one lakh farmers for the dharna.

Mr. Naidu is keen on sending a strong message to the government on the injustice meted to Andhra Pradesh.

The party leadership wants to drive home the message that the government is unable to put forward its views effectively before the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal. The party expects the ‘maha dharna' to expose the raw deal to the State in the allocation of surplus waters.

This will be the third major protest on such issues in which Mr. Naidu is taking part.
