With putting up flexi-boards sans permission by political and private organisations continuing across the city against the High Court order, Municipal Commissioner G. Veerapandian has instructed the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation officials to remove all such publicity material with immediate effect and act tough against the violators.
May it be for promotion of their product or extending festive greetings to citizens, private organisations and political leaders put up flexi-boards, banners and posters across the city. Rotary, traffic signal points, street corners, even electric poles are also not spared. Busy roads and thoroughfares such as Bandar road, Eluru road, National Highway, BRTS road, this practice is rampant.
Taking a strong exception to this practice during an inspection here on Tuesday, the Municipal Commissioner instructed the officials to remove all such banners, posters and other paraphernalia immediately. He also instructed them not to accord permission for putting up publicity material to any organisation, political party or leaders, said a press release.
Inspecting facilities at Siddharthanagar, Prashanthinagar, Urmilanagar, Gunadala and other areas, Mr. Veerapandian asked the officials to ensure that residents did not dump trash in canals.
He saod that awareness programmes be conducted on the importance of segregating dry and wet waste at each division under the supervision of the Corporators.
