Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy took oath as MLA in Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao’s chambers at the Assembly on Friday.

Dr. Rao administered the oath to Mr. Brahmananda Reddy, who got elected from the Nandyal constituency in the byelection conducted recently.

Later, Dr. Rao gave away a bag containing books on Assembly rules and regulations.

Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, Tourism Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya, Assembly in charge Secretary Vijaya Raju, and Deputy Secretary Balakrishnamacharyulu were present. Later, speaking to reporters, Mr. Brahmananda Reddy said he would strive to develop Nandyal into a beautiful city. It would be developed as per the aspirations of his uncle and former MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy, whose demise necessitated the byelection.

Already, developmental works commenced. A land on the outskirts would be earmarked for piggery. Roads would be widened by paying suitable compensation to the affected persons. The government sanctioned as many as 13,000 houses under the housing scheme. Of these, 11,000 beneficiaries had already given DDs, he said.
