Minister's programme irks Congress activists

February 02, 2012 02:50 pm | Updated 02:50 pm IST - VIJAYAWADA:

In what can be seen as teething problems, Congress workers in Krishna district are irked with the programme of Endowments Minister C. Ramachandraiah, who is coming to the district for the first time after being given a berth in the State Cabinet. Mr. Ramachandraiah, who contested as PRP candidate for the Machilipatnam Lok Sabha Constituency in 2009, is not a stranger to the people of the district.

According to the Minister's programme in the district on Friday, Mr. Ramachandraiah is scheduled to have lunch in the house of old buddy Simhadri Ramesh.

When Mr. Ramachandraiah contested as the PRP MP candidate, Mr. Ramesh contested as the PRP candidate from the Avanigadda Assembly constituency.

Both Mr. Ramachandraiah and Mr. Ramesh were defeated by TDP candidates in a triangular fight. They were also said to be responsible for the defeat of the then sitting MP and Congress candidate Badiga Ramakrishna and sitting Avanigadda MLA Mandali Buddha Prasad.

The followers of both these strong Congress leaders are still cut up with Mr. Ramachandraiah and Mr. Ramesh for being the cause for the defeat of their leaders.

As if to rub salt into the wound, Mr. Ramesh joined the YSR Congress recently. The Congress workers are unhappy because the Minister, who is in the know of all these equations, was still going to Mr. Ramesh's house for lunch.
