Terming it the frustration of Telugu Desam Party leaders and cadre, B.C. Welfare Minister Malagundla Sankar Narayana on Saturday said meaningless allegations were being made by the opposition party on the YSRCP at a time when Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was trying to implement a transparent sand policy.

The State-wide dharna on Friday reflected the frustration of the former MLAs and TDP loyalists, who enjoyed income in crores of rupees by selling sand in neighbouring Karnataka and Telangana, the Minister alleged. “Our government’s aim is to provide quality sand at affordable rates and this was not acceptable to the TDP,” he observed.

Rain effect

Recent incessant rains in Andhra Pradesh had rendered all sand reaches inoperable making sand availability a bit tough and within the next one month most of the reaches would be able to supply as must as needed, he added. He appreciated the police force for intercepting illegal transport and curbing smuggling of sand.

Anantapur Urban MLA Anantha Venkatarami Reddy said the Jana Sena Party and the TDP were two sides of the same coin and accused the opposition parties of not doing anything positive to improve the functioning of the government. He said Mr. Pawan Kalyan was still under the influence of TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Criticising the BJP and TDP for ‘neglecting the development of the State’ despite being in power for four years together after formation of the residual State, Mr. Venkatarami Reddy questioned them as to what revenue generation or capital infusion had they done by taking ₹1.65 lakh crore loan.
