Minister, political leaders visit flood-hit colonies

Minister for Secondary Education K. Parthasarathi, leaders of Telugu Desam and Left parties and officials visited flood-hit colonies in the city, and called upon people, who have been evacuated from low-lying areas along the river bank, lodged in rehabilitation camps.

The Minister told officials to ensure that proper food and amenities were provided to the flood victims.

The Minister said that about 5,000 persons were evacuated to the 12 relief camps in the city.

Krishna district Collector S.A.M. Rizvi visited the relief camps and reviewed the arrangements made for the flood victims. Municipal Commissioner G. Ravi Babu visited flood affected parts of Ramalingeswaranagar, Gandhi Colony, Tarakaramanagar, Ranadivenagar, Gitanagar and Bupesh Gupta nagar.

He told municipal corporation officials to check houses that were likely to collapse after getting soaked by flood waters and ensure that the residents of such houses are evacuated. He advised the National Disaster Response Force to patrol parts of the colonies that were inundated by flood waters to rescue people in distress. Telugu Desam leaders Gadde Ramamohan (former MP) and Mylavaram MLA Devineni Umamaheswara Rao visited flood-affected areas in Alla Challa Rao street and consoled people.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) state executive leader Ch.Babu Rao and city secretary R. Raghu visited relief camps and interacted with the flood victims.
