A 22-year-old medical student reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan at her house in the Kothapeta area of the city on Wednesday night. She was reportedly upset over her inability to clear subjects even after multiple attempts.

Chodavarapu Himaja, pursuing third year MBBS from Siddhartha Medical College in the city, was found hanging by her sister.

The victim left a suicide note stating that she had no interest in MBBS since the beginning and was unable to clear supplementary examinations of first and second years as the course was tough for her, police said. She also said no one was responsible for her death.

Helpline

Himaja, daughter of Ch. Jyothi Prakash, an RMP and Rageswari, a teacher, was alone when she took the extreme step.

The Kothapeta police registered a case and investigation is on.

People in distress can call 100 for help. Women can also call Mahila Rakshana Kendram of the city police at 1091, 181 for assistance and counselling.
