Make pacts with foreign firms public, govt. told

October 03, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) has demanded that the State government make public agreements entered into with foreign companies.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, CPI(M) capital region committee convener Ch. Babu Rao said the Cabinet decisions gave scope for suspicion that the government was handing over lands to foreign companies on the sly.

‘No clarity’

There was no clarity on the government decisions and it appears that the government was hiding many details of the agreements from people. “The government owes an explanation as to why it is giving 3,000 acres of land to the firms based in Singapore,” he said.

Mr. Babu Rao further said that it was not correct on the part of the government to ask the residents to paint their houses green in view of foundation stone laying ceremony for the capital of Amaravati.

The Telugu Desam government on one hand had de-notified hundreds of acres of forest land, and on the other it was planning a green city. “It is ridiculous,” he remarked and wanted the government to take back its decisions.
