Land claims: tribal families can apply afresh

Krishna district Collector A .Md .Imtiaz on Wednesday said fresh applications would be invited from tribal families to examine the claim for the land that had been under cultivation by the claimants since 2015.

At a review meeting in Vijayawada, Mr. Imtiaz directed officials of the Forest and Tribal Welfare departments to receive the claims from the eligible families to consider grant of the land under the ST and other traditional forest dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006.

“The officials should ensure the claimed land has been cultivated by the claimant since 2015 and it had not been sanctioned to any other claimants earlier,” said Mr. Imtiaz.

All applications should be submitted to officials concerned at grama sabhas to be conducted in the village. The claims would be examined by Joint Collector K. Madhavilatha.
