Former India cricket captain Anil Kumble will unveil the statue of Colonel C.K. Nayudu, India’s first Test cricket captain, on the campus of Machilipatnam Municipality’s swimming pool on July 24.

The statue was languishing on the Collectorate premises for the past one year.

Sports Minister Kollu Ravindra told The Hindu over phone on Tuesday the site at the civic body’s swimming pool area had been selected and procedures were being followed for unveiling the statue. “The present location to install the statue will have a mini stadium in future,” added Mr. Ravindra. Currently, the statue is under the conservation of the Revenue Department at the Collectorate.
