The Koneru Lakshmaiah University (KLU) is organising ‘Samyak-2017’, a national-level technical event at its campus at Vaddeswaram village in Guntur district on October 6 and 7.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, KLU Vice-Chancellor L.S.S. Reddy said more than 20,000 students from IITs, NITs, universities and professional colleges would take part in the annual event whose theme is ‘Smart Cities’.

Students would exhibit their models on the proposals for smart cities, benefits and the technologies to be used there and related subjects, Dr. Reddy said.

Samyak chairman and dean (Research and Development) K.L. Narayana said paper and poster presentations would be made during the two-day sessions and cash prizes and certificates would be awarded to the best projects.

“As many as 8,000 students registered online for the event and we are expecting more. Besides, spot registration facility is available for the students attending the event from the neighbouring districts,” said Samyak convenor and Mechanical head of the department Dr. A. Srinath.

Student coordinator Ruthvik said cultural shows would be arranged during the event. Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas and Municipal Minister P. Narayana and officials of various departments would participate, the Vice-Chancellor said.
