A Japanese delegation including senior executives of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) met Krishna District Collector Babu A. in the city on Monday and discussed progress of the metro rail project.
They inquired about the action that the Andhra Pradesh Government had taken so far to take the prestigious project forward.
The delegation visited some of the sites where metro railway stations will come up in the Penamalur-Pandit Nehru Bus Station (PNBS) and Nidamanur-PNBS corridors.
Mr. Babu informed them about the survey that was done by an expert committee, funding by the State Government and compensation payable to the land-losers. He also mentioned about the land that was allotted for establishment of a coach depot at Nidamanur.
It may be recalled that Japan evinced interest in developing metro rail networks in the State and JICA expressed its willingness to bear a portion of the project cost which has been pegged at around Rs.7,000 crore.
Some Chinese companies have also positively responded to the A.P Government’s request to contribute to the development of the project being implemented by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.
