Jana Sena Party (JSP) activists staged a demonstration at Kaleswara Rao Market here on Saturday demanding special category status for Andhra Pradesh.

Holding banners and placards, they shouted slogans against Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu and other leaders, accusing the later of being responsible for the plight of people of State.

The protest was held for a few hours after Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu performed the ground-breaking ceremony for the capital at Mandadam village in Thullur mandal of Guntur district.

JSP leader P.V. Mahesh said Mr. Venkaiah Naidu’s claim to have fought on the floor of Parliament for special status proved to be false as he had backed out of his commitment by citing various excuses. Party chief Pawan Kalyan would soon join the agitation , Mr. Mahesh added.
